U.S. accused of tightening alliance with S. Korea

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Tuesday accused the United States of moving to tighten its alliance with South Korea.
The U.S. moves "hint at a new phase of unchallenged military action to put not only the Korean Peninsula but the whole of the Asia-Pacific region under its control," the KCNA said.
The U.S. is desperately driving South Korea into confrontation with the DPRK and thereby pushing the situation on the peninsula to an extreme phase, the KCNA said.
The facts provide an irrefutable testimon that the U.S. strategic scenario for carrying out its strategy for dominating the Asia-Pacific region is at the phase of its implementation, the agency said.
The U.S. moves are nothing but "a serious military provocation as they drive the situation into an extreme phase," the KCNA added.
The KCNA stressed that the U.S. is "the arch criminal" threatening the peace and stability of the region, including the peninsula, and making hostile relations persist there.
The U.S. is reportedly working out new "defense cooperation guidelines" to upgrade its alliance with South Korea and high-ranking American officials have openly asserted the importance of a new alliance with South Korea, according to the KCNA.
