Chilean President Sebastian Pinera arrived in Beijing Monday, beginning a three-day state visit to China.
The visit came on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties, and is Pinera's first state visit to China since he took office in March.
He is to hold talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao and have meetings with top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo and Premier Wen Jiabao.
They will discuss a wide range of topics regarding strengthening the cooperative partnership and concrete cooperation, and will exchange views on regional and international affairs of common concern.
