Explosive device planted on motorbike went off in Imam Sahib district of northern Kunduz province Saturday killing eight people and injuring 18 others, an official said.
"The terrorists planted explosive device on motorbike and detonated it by remote control in a crowded bazaar in Imam Sahib district this morning as a result four personnel of Afghan Local Police (ALP) and four civilians were killed,"district governor Mohammad Ayub Haqyar told Xinhua.
Afghan Local Police is a community police force defending their villages against Taliban attacks and influence to rural areas.
Eighteen more persons, all civilians were injured in the blast, he added.
The official also blamed the enemies of peace, a term used against Taliban militants for organizing the attack, but the outfit has not to make comment yet.
It is the second Taliban-linked violent attack in a single day on Saturday. In the previous attack, the militants targeted an airport in eastern Nangarhar province and all the attackers were killed, according to officials.
