An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale jolted offshore Valparaiso, Chile, at 07:10 GMT on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 25.60 km, was initially determined to be at 33.6 degrees south latitude and 71.9 degrees west longitude.
There were no immediate reports of casualties and damage.
On Feb. 27, a strong earthquake measuring 8.8 degrees on the Richter scale followed by a tsunami hit the central-south region of Chile, killing about 500 people, affecting 800,000 more and causing a total loss of 30 billion U.S. dollars, according to official figures.
