Three NATO soldiers were killed Thursday in western Afghanistan, bringing the number of casualties to eight since Wednesday, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) confirmed in a press release Thursday.
"Three International Security Assistance Force servicemembers died following an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in western Afghanistan today," the press release said.
However, it did not disclose the nationalities of the ill-fated servicemembers saying it is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.
On Wednesday, the military alliance reported losing of four troopers in Taliban-style IED blast in south Afghanistan, while another soldier was killed on the same day in an insurgent attack.
Troops mostly from Italy are stationed within framework of the multinational ISAF in western Afghanistan.
Four Italian soldiers were killed in an insurgent attack in western Afghanistan on Saturday.
Over 570 NATO soldiers have been killed since January this year.
