China-Russia relations are now at their best in history, Chinese Ambassador Li Hui told Xinhua in a recent interview.
China-Russia ties have reached an unprecedented height after the continuous, healthy and stable development, and a pattern of all-round, multi-level and quality cooperation has taken shape, Li said.
Bilateral relations have entered a new phase of maturity and steady development, with pragmatic cooperation and strategic cooperation between the two countries fruitful, he said.
Both countries firmly support each other on issues concerning their respective core interests and maintain close communication and strategic cooperation on major international and regional issues, he said, adding that the China-Russia relationship has been further consolidated.
Li said Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's three-day visit to China starting Sunday is a major event in bilateral relations this year and it will further advance bilateral ties.
In the interview, the Chinese ambassador also made a four-point proposal for deepening the China-Russia strategic partnership of cooperation.
First, both sides should continue to enhance mutual political trust and expand contacts and exchanges at all levels and in all sectors, in efforts to consolidate the political basis of the bilateral relationship, he said.
The two sides should spare no effort to promote practical cooperation, he said, adding that cooperation on key global and regional issues should be strengthened and cultural exchanges deepened.
On trade issues between the two countries, he said China-Russia all-round pragmatic cooperation will be pushed to a new height through continued efforts from governments and enterprises of both countries.
