The pouring rains in Colombia have killed 74 people and left more than 766,000 victims in August and September, the Interior and Justice Ministry said Tuesday.

"Until now, 74 people have been killed and 159 were injured due to storms, floods and landslides in 27 of the 32 departments of the country," the Ministry said in a report.

One of the most affected zones was the Caribbean region.

The Ministry also said that 776,775 people in total have been affected by the rain season during which 618 houses were destroyed.

Meanwhile, the Colombian government has asked the local authorities in the Caribbean and Andean regions to keep alert due to a tropical storm in the southeast of the Caribbean Sea, which could bring floods and landslides in urban areas.
