The Nicaraguan Army's Civil Defense said on Monday that 43 people have died in the rain season which began in May as more rain was forecast for the coming hours.
The latest victim was a 29-year-old man, who was dragged by the rain flow in Palos Quemados. His body was found some 7 km from Pochotillo town in Granada department, some 45 km southeast to the capital of Managua.
The Civil Defense also said that due to rains on Sunday, 151 people from Bajos de Acahualinca in the riverside of Xolotlan Lake were evacuated and taken to shelters.
According to the Civil Defense, nearly 2,000 people are now staying in26 shelters across the country.
