Two Jordanian officers kidnapped early this week in Darfur in Sudan were released on August 17, 2010, the state run Petra news agency reported.

Jordan's Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications Ali Ayed said First Lieutenant Ahmad Qeisi and Second Lieutenant Nabil Kilani were freed on Tuesday, and they are now in good conditions.

The two officers, belonging to a UN peacekeeping mission in Darfur, were abducted on Saturday by three gunmen in a vehicle and were taken to an unknown place.

According to the minister, the two officers, who are part of an international police force mandated by the UN as police advisers in Sudan, are currently with the Jordanian mission in Sudan.
