Beijing Declaration ends China-Africa forum

If China and Africa fulfill its potential and cooperate in agriculture, its collaboration will help elevate the level of the world's food security, the Beijing Declaration announced at the closing ceremony of China-Africa Agricultural Forum Thursday.

The declaration noted that there needs to be better strategic communication and coordination between the ruling parties of China and African countries and exchanges over questions of shared interest—such as sustainable development of agriculture, climate change and disaster prevention and relief.
In a keynote speech at the ceremony, China's Vice Premier Hui Liangyu said the Chinese government will continue to support joint projects with African countries regarding the trials, demonstration and application of agricultural technologies.
"China will continue to send agricultural experts and technicians to African countries to help them with advanced technologies and also accept experts and students from African countries for training," Hui added.
Hui called for the strengthening of communication between China and African countries and for cooperation to increase the bilateral trade of agricultural products. He urged the two sides to take steps to create favorable conditions for the investment on enterprises.
The forum may have accelerated the cooperation. A memorandum on technology training between China's Ministry of Agriculture and Ethiopia's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development was signed at the ceremony, and two Chinese companies reached agreements with Sudan and Cameroon government agencies.
