The World Bank (WB) has approved 327 million U.S. dollars loans to Bangladesh to implement three development projects in the country, the bank said Sunday.

According to a press statement issued by the WB Dhaka office, the projects are aimed at empowering the poor, improving service delivery and enhancing development outcomes in Bangladesh.

"Bangladesh has made remarkable progress in reducing poverty. Still the country faces challenges such as ensuring adequate access to basic services and infrastructure, including water and sanitation facilities for the poor," Zahid Hussain, WB acting country director for Bangladesh, was quoted as saying in the statement.

He said, "These 3 projects will help (Bangladesh) to increase opportunities through improving access to services, facilities and livelihood in an inclusive and effective manner, with an emphasis on targeting the poorest and most vulnerable."
