The home minister of Pakistan's Sindh province said that thousands of weapons are being smuggled into Karachi on a daily basis, local daily The News reported on Sunday.
Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza said there are 177 registered arms dealers in Sindh province. He added the local government tended to sell recovered non-prohibited bore weapons at cheap rates while there was a restriction on the sale of prohibited bore arms.
The rampant arms smuggling in Sindh province, especially in its capital city of Karachi, is one of the major causes for the killing and shootout incidents which take place almost daily in the city.
