Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said Sunday that newly-adopted sanctions of United Nations against Tehran are "not effective at all", the local satellite Press TV reported.

"Sanctions belong to the 60s and 70s and are not effective at all now," Mottaki said in reference to the UN Security Council's sanction resolution decision adopted earlier this month, the report said.

Sanctions are ineffective in resolving the standoff over Iran's nuclear program, he said in a meeting with his visiting Senegalese counterpart Medike Niang, adding that Iran will stick to its " logical and fair stance" over its "peaceful" nuclear program despite sanctions.

On June 9, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution to impose a fourth round of sanctions against Iran over its suspected nuclear program, which caused sharp reactions from Iranian officials.
