ASEAN-related strategic management workshop underway in Myanmar

A strategic management workshop is underway in Myanmar's Central Institute of Civil Service in Yangon 's Phanuggyi under the Initiative for ASEAN Integration Program, the official newspaper New Light of Myanmar reported Wednesday.
Organized by Myanmar's Civil Service Selection and Training Board in collaboration with the Civil Service Institute of the Prime Minister's office and Brunei, an ASEAN member, the four-day workshop began on Tuesday, participated by two dozens officials from various ministries and government organizations, the report said.
Three modules focusing on the understanding and formulation of vision and mission, SWOT analysis, overview and introduction to balanced scorecard are discussed, the report added.
Myanmar is in a process of merging into the integration of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) like other similar fresh members.
For a decade since its joining of the ASEAN, Myanmar has attached importance to the development of friendly and cooperative ties with other fellow members, endeavoring to step forward in accordance with the ASEAN targets and striving for merging into the integration process.
In line with the international political situation and the growing trend of economic globalization, Myanmar had made a choice of its own strategy and adjustment of its policy, formally joining the ASEAN in July 1997.
Myanmar anticipates that the future emergence of an ASEAN community by 2015 will benefit Myanmar citizens along with other regional members in sharing the fruits of peace and stability, prosperity and socio-cultural development.
ASEAN's three pillars are known as political security community, economic community and socio-culture community.
Myanmar ratified the ASEAN Charter in July 2008.
ASEAN comprises Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
