Clashes erupted Tuesday between Palestinian gunmen and Israeli forces east of the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis, witnesses said.
The Israeli Army Radio reported that Israeli border forces spotted a group of Palestinian fighters trying to infiltrate into Israel through the fence between the Gaza Strip and Israel and shot at them.
The witnesses said sound of fire exchange was heard in the area.
During the clashes, two stray bullets hit a Palestinian woman in the leg, said Adham Abu Selmia, an ambulance officer. The source of the fire that wounded the 65-year-old woman is unknown.
According to the Radio, the Israeli soldiers foiled the infiltration attempt, which came a day after Israeli troops killed at least 10 activists aboard a flotilla, that was carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza.
