Ireland reimposes flight restrictions

Ireland reimposed travel restrictions on the country's main Dublin airport on Wednesday, with all flights in and out of the airport to be suspended as of 1000 GMT in the day to avoid possible ash ingestion in airplane engines, reports from Dublin said.
The decision was announced by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA), which banned flights in most of the country for several hours on Tuesday.
The IAA did not impose similar restrictions Wednesday on Shannon airport, another main airport of the nation.
Flights over Europe were banned for six days last month because of fears of the effect of volcanic ash from Iceland on jet engines, causing losses of billions of dollars to airlines in Europe.
