Taliban militants launched multiple attacks on several government buildings in provincial capital Zaranj Wednesday morning, provincial governor Ghulam Dastgir Azad told Xinhua.

"Seven blasts rocked Zaranj city and apparently all were suicide bombers blowing themselves up and began targeting government buildings this morning," Azad asserted.

One of the buildings that came under militants' attack is the Provincial Council, and the other is the Governor's office, he said, adding the gun battle is going on.

It is too early to comment on possible casualties, he said.
