The U.S. said on Tuesday it is considering canceling a visit by Afghan President Hamid Karzai as he has been increasingly critical of Obama administration recently.
"We certainly would evaluate whatever continued or further remarks President Karzai makes as to whether that's constructive to have such a meeting,"' said White House spokesman Robert Gibbs.
Karzai is scheduled to meet with President Barack Obama in Washington D.C. on May 12.
But the relations between U.S. and Afghanistan have gone sour after Karzai on Thursday accused foreign powers of organizing fraud during last year's presidential elections in his country.
His remarks elicited a strong response from the U.S. The White House on Friday said that his comments are troubling and it is seeking clarification from the Afghan president.
