Afghan President Hamid Karzai would pay a state visit to China next week to meet the Chinese leaders and discuss bilateral relations and regional cooperation, Karzai's chief spokesman Waheed Omar said on Tuesday.
"The President is going to China in near future, possibly in mid-next week at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart President Hu Jintao," Omar told a weekly press briefing here.
President Karzai would meet Chinese leaders and exchange views especially on matters pertaining mutual interests and peace in the region, Omar added.
The Afghan leader will also talk about peace and stability in the region, he said, adding the main part of the meeting will be discussion on enhancing trade and economic cooperation.
A high ranking delegation including businessmen will accompany the Afghan president in his tour to China.
