Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on Friday held talks with visiting Zimbabwean Foreign Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi on bilateral relationship and international issues.
Yang said the two countries are sincere partners. Mumbengegwi said Zimbabwe regarded China as the most trustworthy friend.
China and Zimbabwe have cemented their traditional friendship and worked closely in bilateral and international affairs since the two countries established diplomatic ties in April 1980, Yang said.
China thanked Zimbabwe for sticking to the one-China policy and offering support on issues concerning its core interests, Yang said.
Mumbengegwi said Zimbabwe appreciated China's support for its drive to seek national independence and assistance to the country's development.
Yang said his country would like to work more closely with Zimbabwe in politics, economy, culture so as to deepen relationship.
Mumbengegwi echoed Yang's views, proposing the two countries step up high-level visits and explore cooperation in all fields.
They discussed regional and international issues of common concern.
Mumbengegwi was here on an official visit from Feb. 23 to March 2 as Yang's guest.
