China and Canada held a ministerial-level strategic working group's meeting on Thursday, exchanging views on furthering cooperation in all areas.
Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai, Vice Minister of Commerce Yi Xiaozhun, and Canadian Deputy Foreign Minister Leonard Edwards, Deputy Minister of International Trade Louis Levesque co-chaired the meeting.
The two sides discussed bilateral ties as well as cooperation in trade, investment, natural resources, environment, and multilateral affairs.
Representatives from the two countries' departments in charge of trade, science, environmental protection, energy, natural resources, and staff from the Canadian embassy to China participated in the meeting.
The strategic working group between China and Canada, established in 2005, was a ministerial-level consultation mechanism focusing on promoting political trust and economic cooperation.
Thursday's meeting was a consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries during Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's visit to China last December.
