Turkey expresses sympathy over suicide attack losses in Pakistan

Turkish President Abdullah Gul telephoned Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari Wednesday and extended condolences to him over the deaths of innocent people in the attack in Karachi, the presidential spokesman said.

Some 43 people were killed and up to 90 injured in a suicide attack in Ashura procession in the port city of Karachi on Monday.

President Abdullah Gul reaffirmed Turkey's support to Pakistan in the fight against militancy and Turkey's support to emocracy in Pakistan, presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar said in a statement.

The two leaders also talked about bilateral and regional issues, he added.

President Zardari raised with the Turkish President the proposal of a fast track commercial train service between Pakistan and Turkey to open new avenues of trade and commerce among countries in the region.

The Turkish president also invited President Zardari to the trilateral summit and the regional conference on Afghanistan to be held in Istanbul next month, the statement said.
