A government official and five members of his family were killed in a bomb blast in his residence in Pakistan's tribal region, officials said Sunday.

No group claimed responsibility for the incident.
Government officials, security forces and pro-government tribal elders are targeted by suspected militants in the country's tribal regions.
Officials say that up to 400 tribal elders have been killed in targeted attacks in the tribal regions since the security forces launched operation against the militants in 2003.
Suspected militants killed a tribal elder in the Bajaur tribal region on Saturday, according to officials.
Malik Muhammad Gul, also member of the peace committee, was kidnapped on Saturday from the Mamond area of Bajaur and his body was found late Saturday night.
Officials say that dozens of members of peace committee have been killed by the militants and many have now left the area fearing such attacks.
