An army man and a suspected insurgent died Wednesday in clashes between security men and a group of suspected insurgents in the South of Thailand.
The first clash occurred at about 1 p.m. in a village in Bajoh district of Narathiwas as one soldier was killed, Thai News Agency reported.
After the first clash, while a joint security force of military and policemen was attempting to seize the fighting scene, the second clash occurred, and one of the suspected insurgent was killed.
One policeman got a minor injury and was sent to hospital.
After the second clash, the security men hunt for the suspected insurgents as Narathiwas Governor Tanon Vejjakornkanon was also at the clash's scene for investigation.
Thailand's deep South comprises mainly the three southernmost provinces of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwas, and the four districts of Songkla province.
Over 3,500 people have been killed by the daily violence attack by suspected separatists since January 2004.
