Honduras' de facto leader Roberto Micheletti said Tuesday that he would not resign from his post until the president-elect takes office on Jan. 27, 2010.
"I am not going to give up and leave the office until Jan. 27 as it is regulated in the Constitution," said Micheletti.
"Even if the world, including the countries that have been hating us, asks me to do it, I will not do it."
Micheletti was asked to resign by president-elect Porfirio Lobo on Monday night, local media reported.
"I was elected by the Congress and the only one can depose me is the National Congress. I am not leaving because I think ... there is no agreement on my departure," Micheletti said.
He also said ousted President Manuel Zelaya is no longer the president anymore. "He is a common citizen."
