An American soldier who served in Afghanistan within the framework of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed in the militancy- plagued country, a press release of the alliance said Tuesday.
"One US service member was killed during an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan yesterday," the press release said.
However, it did not say the exact place of the incident and the rank of the victim.
Increasing militancy and surge in NATO-led troops' casualties have forced the U.S. and allies to boost military presence in Afghanistan.
To effectively cope with the increasing Taliban-led insurgency, President Barack Obama would decide soon to deploy additional troops to the post-Taliban state.
