IMF chief to visit Singapore, China

Dominique Strauss-Kahn, managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), will visit Singapore and China on Nov. 12-17, the IMF said on Thursday.
During his first official visit to Singapore as the IMF chief, Strauss-Kahn will participate in the 16th APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting, and meet with Singaporean officials on Nov. 12.
He will also co-chair with Singapore's Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam a round-table discussion with Asian policymakers on the economic policy challenges faced by the region.
After his visit to Singapore, Strauss-Kahn will travel to Beijing on Nov. 16-17 to "discuss with the Chinese authorities their policy response to the global crisis and solicit views from senior government officials regarding the outlook for the Chinese and world economies," said the IMF in a statement.
The IMF chief will also participate in the International Finance Forum, a platform backed by official entities in China and various international financial organizations that promotes communication on global financial and development issues.
Strauss-Kahn will also meet with students and faculty members of Tsinghua University.
