A kidnapped man by Taliban militants in Paktika province east of Afghanistan escaped after killing six captors, provincial governor Mohammad Qayum Katawazi said on Thursday.
"The Taliban insurgents kidnapped a man called Rahim on charge of working for government from Yahya Khil district Wednesday and Rahim late night snatched a gun from the Talibans and after gunning down six of his captors had escaped,"Katawazi told Xinhua.
In retaliation the Taliban militants set on fire the house of Rahim, he said, adding that that Rahim and his family are safe and under police protection.
The governor rejected Taliban's claim, and said that Rahim does not work for the government.
Taliban militants as part of military tactic have been targeting government employees and calling on people not to work for government particularly with security forces.
