We start our programme with the continuing tensions on Korean Peninsula. The DPRK has said its missiles are "ready to fire". The warning was announced on its state television.
According to KRT news reader, "Our arms are ready to fire and the exact coordinates have been entered into the warheads. Once we push the button, it will be fired and the strongholds of our enemies will be turned into a sea of flames."
The statement was issued by the DPRK's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea. Japan's Kyodo News reported on Thursday that a DPRK's missile mobile launcher has been put into a firing position with rockets facing skyward. South Korean Yonhap News Agency said the DPRK has moved the Musudan missiles in and out of the facility and spotted the missiles in "firing position" several times. South Korea also cautioned earlier there was a very high probability that after weeks of threats of war, the DPRK would test-launch a medium-range missile at any time as a show of strength.
According to Washington and Seoul, the DPRK has stationed as many as five medium-range missiles on its east coast. They also speculate this may be preparations for a test launch that would demonstrate the DPRK's ability to hit US bases on Guam.
