China has called on the new Japanese cabinet to make concrete efforts to bring bilateral relations back on track. Foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying says China will keep a close eye on the actions of the new Japanese government. Hua says China's position on the Diaoyu Islands remains clear and consistent, and China will continue to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Hua Chunying, Spokesperson of Chinese Foreign Ministry, said, "China and Japan are important neighbours. A healthy and stable Sino-Japanese relationship is in the fundamental interests of both countries. We hope the new Japanese government can work together with China and make real efforts to overcome difficulties and get the bilateral relationship back on track. The Diaoyu islands are China's inherent territory. China has always advocated the resolution of territorial disputes through dialogue and negotiation. We hope Japan will work with China with sincerity and make real efforts to solve the relevant problems through dialogue and negotiation."
