Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has arrived in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, to attend the ninth Asia-Europe Meeting.

On his arrival, Premier Wen issued a statement conveying the greetings and good wishes of the Chinese people to the people of Laos. He said China congratulates Laos on the remarkable results of the country's reform and opening up process, carried out over recent years.
Wen Jiabao says he's looking forward to discussing bilateral cooperation with the leaders of Laos. The Asia-Europe Meeting opens on Monday, and brings together 51 Asian and European countries and organizations.
Many leaders of other nations have already begun arriving for the event. Premier Wen is due to stay in Laos until Tuesday.
