President Hu Jintao has met with the foreign ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states in Beijing.

Hu Jintao said, after 10 years of development, the SCO has become an important organization in the region. Faced with the new situation, member states should focus on security cooperation and deepen exchanges in a variety of fields.

He added Friday's council meeting created a solid foundation for the SCO Beijing Summit in June. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that many agreements were reached during the meeting. He said this shows the member states' common wish to further promote the development of the SCO.
