President Hu Jintao has held talks with South Sudanese President Salva Kiir. President Kiir is in Beijing, seeking to expand cooperation and advance diplomatic relations.
President Hu Jintao spoke highly of relations between China and South Sudan. South Sudan is a young country, yet bilateral exchanges and cooperation are expanding rapidly.
South Sudanese President Kiir said South Sudan appreciates China’s swift recognition of his country, on the very day of its founding.
Hu Jintao suggested the two countries beef up political relations, strengthen dialogue at all levels, and enhance cooperation within the framework put forward at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. President Hu also promised to continue training sorely needed professionals and send medical teams to the country.
Kiir said South Sudan will firmly stick to the one-China policy and view China as an important strategic and cooperative partner. He welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in South Sudan, noting the country’s willingness to work with China in areas related to trade, energy, agriculture and infrastructure.
After the talks, both presidents witnessed the signing of several cooperative agreements on economic and technical cooperation.
