From Beijing to London, the badges will add some shine to the world's biggest sports show. And they've already taken the Huajiang Culture Development Company to new heights of success.
Huajiang won the exclusive license to design and produce the merchandise for the 2012 London Olympic Games. And their designs range from the city's favourite pets to afternoon tea culture. Each of these badges has a story to tell.
David Yuan, a designer, said, "Like this badge, we call it 'mirror badge'. It was inspired by the concept of the London Olympics, which calls for openness and inclusiveness. Rather than being defined by the designer, the badge will reflect anything you see and look like anything you like."
Many of its designs have attracted badge collectors all over the world. Huajiang has produced badges for the past four Olympics. But it was the Beijing Olympics that transformed the small business from a manufacturer to an enterprise running a creative design and marketing operation.
The company learned that to stand out from world competitors, innovation counts.
Ada Wu, vice general manager of Huajiang, said, "Creativity is one of the most important reasons for our win, as our innovation at the Beijing Olympics made an impression on the London clients. It also provided us with a key to the international market and helped us become a more mature business."
These newly designed badges will soon go on sale to customers in London, to mark the 100 day countdown to the opening ceremony. These small souvenirs from Beijing represent a piece of Olympic history, connecting the two host cities. It's hoped they'll bring good luck and success to the London Olympics.
