Iran's Judiciary has refuted recent media reports about the imminent release of two American hikers convicted of illegal entry into Iran and of espionage.
On Tuesday, a lawyer of the two detained Americans, Joshua Fattal and Shane Bauer, told media that each of his clients would be released on a bail of 500,000 US dollars.
According to the Judiciary, the release of the two American nationals on bail was their lawyers' proposal and "their lawyers request to release them on bail is under study."
Iranian President Mahmoud Amadinejad told US media that they would be freed in a couple of days, in what he called a humanitarian gesture shortly before he travels to the United Nations in New York.
