In Taiwan, the 29th annual Sun Moon Lake swim has been held. Sunday's event attracted over 27,000 participants at the lake located in the island's central Nantou County.

The first heat consisted of 266 disabled swimmers. Later, competitors took to the water in groups to prevent overcrowding across the three kilometer course. Some swimmers suffered setbacks during the race, with one young boy pulling out after his temperature plummeted in the water.

The race finished earlier than planned in the afternoon, due to an approaching storm. The Sun Moon Lake is the largest lake in Taiwan. The swimming race is held around Mid-Autumn Festival every year. The festival falls on next Monday this year.
