Being the first Chinese player to win a Grand Slam, the name Li Na will forever be etched in history. The French Open champion has become China's newest sporting sensation and over the next fortnight at Wimbledon, she will look to continue her remarkable run here in 2011.
Li Na is the leading figure of Chinese tennis, and is setting new marks every time she takes the court.
At this year's Australian Open the 9th seed became the first Chinese player to reach the final of a Grand Slam singles final.
Despite finishing runner-up, Li Na's ranking rose to a career high 7 in the world.
Then came the pinnacle for China's newest sports star, success in Paris. By defeating defending champion, Francesca Schiavone, in the women's singles the 29-year-old became the first Chinese champion of a major tournament and will always remember the red clay of Roland Garros because that's where her dream finally came true.
The French Open champion goes down in history as the first Chinese player to have her name engraved on a Grand Slam trophy earning much attention from the world's media.
She's also gaining attention off the court, last week, along with her fellow Wimbledon competitors, she stepped out in a celebrity fashion auction.
Li Na said, "It's totally different now because it changes. Now, opponents see you differently. They say "Now you are champion of Grand Slam."
This week the French Open Champion gets to challenge the world's best on Grass - at the All England Club - where she hopes to continue her season's success.
