The flood has wreacked havoc on the provinces of Guizhou, Hunan and Jiangxi. In Guizhou Province alone, 450-thousand residents in 14 cities have been affected by the flooding, with some 100-thousand residents having been evacuated since Monday. Meanwhile, the waters toppled 800 houses and damaged nearly five-thousand. 13-thousand hectares of farmland are now under water.

The flooding has also disrupted power and water supplies and telecommunications services. The state government has collected 14 million yuan in emergency funding for Wangmo County, one of the most severely affected areas in Guizhou. More heavy rain is forecasted from Thursday for the rest of the week, which could lead to more flooding.
