International media is out in force on the streets of central London as the eyes of the world focus on the British capital ahead of the royal wedding.

Television broadcasters from across the globe have begun what is expected to be a frenzied week of transmissions for the nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Crews have gathered at Westminster Abbey to film the location of Friday's ceremony.

Directly opposite, a large media stand has been built to allow broadcasters to capture every moment live. Every inch of available roofspace in the area is host to media platforms with makeshift news studios, some far above ground. They will offer a unique vantage point from which to record the day's events. Construction of the abbey media stand has been a large-scale engineering operation.

Jennie Bond, AP royal consultant, said, "I've been struck by how enormous the media interest is,actually. The media village over here is huge. It's bigger than anything I've seen in 20 years of reporting,so that's sensational. I've also been monitoring reports from everywhere you can think of there is interest in this wedding. It is quite stupendous."

Eve Couture, Canadian journalist, said, "For us, it's of special interest. It's a real international event. It's a huge international event-and so we cannot afford to miss it."
