It's also the first time some precious bronze relics will go on public display.

Just opposite, 91 ancient Chinese Buddha statues add some exotic flavor.

The museum also rolled out special exhibitions of masterpieces by Chinese painters including Pan Tianshou, Li Keran, and Huang Zhou. 100 paintings are showcased, some of them for the first time at the museum.

Zhang Xihong, Staff Member of Pan Tianshou Memorial Hall said "The museum is a good platform. We hope visitors can learn more about the masterpieces of Pan Tianshou through it."

The National Museum will restrict the number of visitors to a daily maximum of 8,000, because items for the exhibition "Ancient China" are still under preparation. Some venues will open after June.

Chen Lvsheng, Vice Curator of National Museum of China said "Besides its attractive building, our exhibitions will not let the public and experts down. I believe everybody will want to visit here to experience it themselves. But they need to plan to spend some time, as there is a lot to cover."

Visitors can get their free tickets at the North and West gates of the Museum.
