The luxury Emirates Palace hotel in the United Arab Emirates has unveiled a Christmas tree decorated with over 11 million dollars worth jewelry. The 13-meter faux fir has 131 ornaments that include gold and precious stones such as diamonds and sapphires.
The hotel's general manager said that they aimed to create a "unique tree and experience for the guests this year." The hotel boasts its own marina, heliport and a vending machine that pops out small gold bars.
It said it may later contact Guinness World Records for a possible bid to claim the world's most expensive Christmas tree. Christmas spirit is not rare in the United Arab Emirates, which is officially Muslim but hosts a huge foreign population.
