China, Cambodia to strengthen ties

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has met with his Cambodian counterpart, Hun Sen in Beijing. Hun Sen's trip to China is aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, and learning from China's experience to help develop Cambodia.

 

Premier Wen Jiabao warmly welcomed the Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen at the Great hall of People in Beijing on Monday.

After the ceremony, the two leaders held bilateral talks.

Premier Wen Jiabao highly valued the strategic partnership between China and Cambodia. He said the two countries have strengthened mutual trust in both politics and strategy.

Wen Jiabao also said China expects Cambodia could further explore the Chinese market through the mechanism of the China-Asien free trade zone.

China is willing to expand cooperation with Cambodia in various fields including agriculture, infrastructure construction, finance and human resources, as well as providing aid to support Cambodia's economic development.

In his turn, Hun Sen said Cambodia wants to increase it's export to China to boost bilateral trade.

He also said Cambodia will work with China to promote China-Asien relations and maintain regional peace and stability.

Later, the two sides signed a series cooperation agreements.

Hun Sen arrived in Beijing on Monday on a five-day official visit to China. During his visit, Hun Sen will meet with Chinese President Hu Jintao and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Wu Bangguo. He will also visit the northern port city of Tianjin and east China's Jiangsu Province.
