The 54th Asian Pacific Film Festival was held in Taipei on December 4th. Winners of over fifty films from 18 countries and regions in Asia have been named. Taiwan's Jacky Woo and Patty Hou hosted the event.

 

The 54th Asian Pacific Film Festival broke three records. There were more Chinese films, more young Asian directors, and more countries and regions represented than ever before. The award ceremony was held in Taipei at Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. Veteran Filipino film star Annita Linda was awarded Best Actress for her role in the multiple award-winning film "Lola." The Best Actor award went to the Iranian actor Hamid Farrokhnezhad.

Taiwan film "Monga," which entered the contest with great expectations, grabbed awards for Best Original Song and Best Art Direction. It was the Indian movie "Janala" that took home the coveted Best Picture award.
