Turning to Southwest China's Guizhou Province, where an explosion in an Internet cafe has killed at least 7 people and injured 38 others. 9 are in critical condition. Saturday evening's explosion occurred in the downtown area of Kaili, a City in the east of Guizhou.

 

An initial investigation indicates the blast was caused by a chemical explosion next door.Police have detained the manager of the cafe as well as the person responsible for illegally storing chemicals in the adjacent room.

Debris everywhere.

The scene shows what is left after the deadly explosion.

It happened at about 10 o'clock at night at an Internet cafe under the Qingping bridge.

Three buildings were damaged during the blast. Their facades turned black.

Windows also collapsed, indicating the strength of the explosion.

Residents are still in shock.

Kaili resident said, "I heard a loud noise last night, and the windows collapsed. Then I saw lots of smoke and the flames. Many people ran to the site after the blast."

Firefighters were dispatched to control the fire.

After it was put out, rescue workers checked the debris carefully for victims.

Over at the hospital, doctors are working non-stop.

Doctor of Qian Dong Nan Prefecture’s Hospital, said, "We are doing our best to treat those injured like binding up wounds. Our hospital received 25 injured people and all of them are in a stable condition."

The Internet Cafe is a licensed one, with around 140 computers. Only one of the 45 people in the cafe at the time of the blast was not injured.
