President Hu Jintao has left Beijing, for a state visit to France, at the invitation of French President Nicolas Sarkozy. During his stay, Hu will hold talks with President Sarkozy and meet with Prime Minister Francois Fillon and other French officials.

Hu's visit to France will seek to promote the long-term and stable development of the two countries comprehensive strategic relations. President Hu will also visit Portugal after his visit to France.
