Peking University has opened an Energy Management Center, at its campus in Beijing. More than a dozen universities nationwide, have collaborated to establish the research center, which aims to pioneer new energy-saving technologies. How it will help China to cut carbon emissions and build a greener future?

The joint research center was formed by more than 20 universities in China. It's the first of its kind focused on energy-saving.

The center aims to promote the design of energy-saving initiatives, while striving to create new talents in this field.

Zhou Qifeng, President of Peking University, said, "We have about 40 energy-saving related courses. We would support these programs through research in the field, and by promoting it on campus."

To make the center's research and training programs more practical, it will cooperate with the leading experts in energy management and efficiency.

French company Schneider Electric has bolstered the center by pledging to fund much of its research.

The center has set a target to become the most influential and productive platform on energy-saving in China within three to five years.
