BlackBerry and Saudi mobile firms are testing three servers to send communications and data through Saudi Arabia to address the country's concerns over security.
Pressed by security authorities, the Saudi telecom regulator has ordered the kingdom's three mobile carriers to meet unspecified requirements. If successful, the set-up will bypass Blackberry servers currently operating in Britain and Canada. The regulator will then allow all BlackBerry services to continue normally.
Other countries including India, Lebanon and Algeria have also expressed concerns over Blackberry's encrypted network, which governments want monitored to avert possible threats to national security.
