The Ministry of Civil Affairs says more than 300 people have been killed in rainstorms and floods across China since July 14th while 300 others are still missing.

Currently flood prevention in several major rivers is the biggest challenge. The water level in the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River has kept rising. Floods passing Jialingjiang River have caused the water level in its upper-stream to exceed its warning level.

Danjiangkou reservoir in Hanjiang River is almost full. The Water level in Taihu lake and some of the branches of the Songhuajiang River and Yellow River have been above the warning level.

Meanwhile, rainstorms have been lashing provinces including Shaanxi, Sichuan, Henan, Hubei and other provinces. Direct economic losses are estimated to be more than 52 billion yuan.
