Typhoon Chanthu, which has killed 2 people in southern China's Guangdong Province, has entered Guangdong's neighboring Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Bobai County in Guangxi was the first to be hit last night. The local weather bureau has recorded rainfall as high as 152 millimeters. Wind speeds were around 30 meters per second. Meanwhile, Chanthu also brought torrential rains to several cities in Guangdong.
30 flights at Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou City were delayed. More than 1.35 million people in 20 counties or cities in the province were affected. Nearly 3,000 houses collapsed in the rainstorms and strong gales. Economic losses are estimated at 2.2 billion yuan.
