Both government officials and local residents across China are taking extensive measures to cope with the current heat wave.

On Monday afternoon, the power load in Beijing reached a record high of 14.3 million kilowatts, while the power load in Tianjin surged to 9.3 million kilowatts. The Tianjin Municipal Electric Power Corporation is promising to do whatever it takes to maintain an adequate supply flow there.

Meanwhile, the Beijing Bus Group has ordered drivers of all buses equipped with air conditioners to use them.

In Guangzhou, the local government has issued a high temperature orange alert, and opened 480 makeshift shelters that can offer drinking water and air conditioning for some area residents.
